Getting around

SkyTrain and getting around

Port Moody has two Millennium Line (Evergreen Extension) stations: Moody Centre Station and Inlet Centre Station.

The City's Getting Around page walks out approximate walking times from each station:

From Moody Centre Station

  • Queen Street Plaza, about 13 minutes
  • Rocky Point Park, about 10 minutes
  • Shoreline Trail, about 16 minutes
  • Kyle Centre, about 13 minutes
  • St. Johns Street shops, about 8 minutes
  • Clarke Street shops, about 12 minutes

From Inlet Centre Station

  • St. Johns Street shops, about 8 minutes
  • Suter Brook Village, about 5 minutes
  • Newport Village, about 10 minutes
  • Heritage Mountain Shoppers Village, about 11 minutes
  • City Hall, Inlet Theatre and Port Moody Public Library, about 10 minutes
  • Recreation Complex, about 12 minutes

Moody Centre Station also connects to the West Coast Express commuter rail toward downtown Vancouver's Waterfront Station. Schedules change; check TransLink before you rely on a specific train.

The City also lists Modo car-share hubs (including Spring Street at Moody Centre Station) and public EV charging at Civic Centre, Inlet Park, Kyle Centre, Old Orchard Hall, the Recreation Complex and Rocky Point Park.

Neighbourhoods

Moody Centre, Inlet Centre, Newport and Suter Brook

Buyers usually mean different cores when they say Port Moody:

  • Moody Centre — the blocks around Moody Centre Station (Murray, St. Johns, Electronic Avenue, Spring Street and nearby streets). Closest to Rocky Point Park, the inlet waterfront and the brewery strip people often call Brewers Row.
  • Inlet Centre, Suter Brook and Newport Village — the established town-centre retail and condo and townhome area around Inlet Centre Station, Newport Village plaza and Suter Brook Village.

Both cores are SkyTrain-connected and walkable. Which one fits you depends on whether you want newer station-adjacent inventory and the Rocky Point waterfront lifestyle (often Moody Centre), or a more established retail plaza and a mix of low-rise and tower product (often Inlet Centre, Newport and Suter Brook). On a showing day we can walk both so you feel the difference yourself, or I can run live video walkthroughs if you're still out of province.

Outside the cores, many buyers also look at Heritage Woods and Heritage Mountain, Klahanie, and older waterfront streets near Rocky Point and Old Orchard. Each has a different commute, school catchment and strata (or no-strata) profile.

Rocky Point and daily life

Rocky Point Park is the city's main waterfront park on Burrard Inlet. From Moody Centre Station the City lists about a 10-minute walk. The Shoreline Trail connects along the inlet. If walkability and outdoor time matter to you, we start showings with a map of walking distances to SkyTrain, Rocky Point and your work commute, not just photos of the kitchen.

Burquitlam is the next neighbourhood south, in Coquitlam. The Burquitlam neighbourhood guide covers that station, the neighbourhood plan and the housing mix. For the city next door, see the Port Coquitlam guide.

Buying

Buying in Port Moody: practical checks

  • Strata documents matter for most condos and townhomes: bylaws, minutes, depreciation report, Form B and contingency fund. I review those with you before you remove subjects.
  • Transit-oriented densification continues near both SkyTrain stations under provincial transit-oriented area rules and the City's own plans. Before you buy, check the property's land-use designation with City of Port Moody planning staff or on the City's mapping tools so you understand what can be built next door.
  • Renting first? If you're relocating and want a rental lined up before you arrive, I also offer a tenant-side relocation rental service ($1,500 + GST, paid by the tenant in two parts). Details are on the tenants page.

Typical sequence I walk clients through:

  1. Clarify the brief

Buy-versus-rent timing, budget, preferred core (Moody Centre or Inlet Centre), and must-haves such as a SkyTrain walk, schools, parking and pets.

  2. Shortlist

Buildings or streets that match those constraints.

  3. Showings

In person if you're here, or live video walkthroughs if you're not.

  4. Offer or lease

Strata review on purchases and lease review on rentals.
